Groupons photo shoots

It's been a month since our Groupon deal has posted - we have had the wonderful pleasure to work with some great folks celebrating engagements, children, art and business pursuits, pregnancies, friendships and families.  Here's just a sample of some of the first few photo sessions that we have done.

Aiden

We were delighted to meet Aiden and his family.  Aiden kept us busy with his interest in everything around him from butterflies to his two golf balls.  After we were done shooting outside, we moved inside where we were surprised to find out that Aiden is quite adept at making scrambled eggs!  We thoroughly enjoyed working with them and would do it again…for Aiden’s scrambled egg recipe!

Mr. and Mrs. Yates

We were honored to be the wedding photographers for Mr. and Mrs. Yates, recently. Though the weather wasn't super favorable and sprinkled all morning (sometimes heavier than others)... everyone's spirits were high!  They are a lovely couple and so easy to work with.  It was a pleasure documenting their special day.

Wishing them all the best and many years of happiness!

Katie

We had the great pleasure of doing a shoot with the very talented and crafty Katie Stack this past weekend! She is prepping for Crafty Bastard in DC coming up in October.  Brent and I had a blast taking photos of her products, as well as a few photos of the crafty lady herself.

Go check out her very cool upcycle goods on Etsy:http://www.catherinette.etsy.com

Unique, Wearable Art

Some of our favorite images made in to earrings! Our images are printed on lightweight plastic with a matte texture. They are attached to (nickel and lead-free) surgical steel hooks.

Wearable art that is adorable and unique!

The Eastman Kodak Autographic

We attended the Penn Camera Imaging Expo this past weekend in Tysons, VA.  It was a great event with factory reps from over a dozen major brands, mini-seminars and staff to appraise collectible cameras.  I have a camera that was once my father's, and was unsure how the dang thing worked.  So we thought this was an excellent chance to find out more about it.  Gerry and Fred, at Penn Camera, were super helpful.  Fred got the camera working as best he could given its condition.

We learned that the camera is turn of the century, roughly 95 years old.  It was called the Eastman Kodak Autographic and was mass marketed during it's time.  In the photo you can see there is a small stylus, just to the right of the lens (most Autographics found today, no longer have these).  The stylus would have been used to etch important information the photographer wished to capture (i.e. date, time, location, exposure) in a small opening in the back onto the film.  It was really ahead of it's time.  The bellows are sadly in bad shape, but we were given contact information to someone who might be able to work on it.  We also found out that there is a person who cuts bulk Kodak film to fit this camera.  So, if we wanted to invest some money... I could actually use it - Pretty Cool!

While it was mass produced and really isn't a big "Antique Road Show find"... it does have sentimental value, since this was once my Dad's.

Here's a couple of neat ads that we found for the Autographic, back in the day:

New Online Proof Gallery!

Tomerlin Photography has a new online proof gallery!  That's right, we've recently set up a new site that will provide our clients with access to an online proof gallery for viewing, ordering prints and digital collections.  Clients' galleries will be password protected and can be shared with friends and family for up to four weeks.  Cool, huh?!

We currently have images from the blog on there, as well as a snappy slideshow of some of our favorite photos.  Stop by and check it out!

Julie

Julie, the blushing bride-to-be had us over for a short photo shoot.  Though her wedding isn't until May 1st, she had us over for  a formal portrait shoot in a wedding dress for submission to her mother-in-law's local paper.  We were delighted for the opportunity to meet and take pictures of her.  We had a great time and wish Julie and Jordan all the best!

Raj

We had such a great time taking photos of our dear friend, Raj!  She looked glamourous decked out in a beautiful sari, bangles, and bindi.  These are just a few of our favorites... but there were many to choose from.  In addition to a fun shoot, Raj treated us to a delicious meal afterwards!  Be on the look out for her blog... this lady is full of stories and should have some interesting tales to tell.
